Computer Facility
With the financial assistance from DST, Govt. of India under its ‘Fund for Infrastructure Development in Science & Technology in Higher Educational Institution (FIST)’ programme, a state of the art ‘Remote Sensing & GIS Laboratory’ has been established in this Department. In this laboratory, 5 (five) Computers (PC) are in Local Area Network (LAN) environment, which are connected to a Server, placed at Geography Department, Cotton College through fiber cable.
Up to date version of Geographic Information System (GIS) software like Arc View 8.3, Arc GIS Lab Kit and PC Arc Info 3.2 as well as Geometica Image Processing software 9.1 are loaded in the Server and can be accessed through these computers in LAN. Moreover, this laboratory is equipped with one A-0 size Plotter, one A-3 size Inkjet Printer, one A-4 size coloured Laser Printer, two CD Writer, Digital Planimeter, Digital Curvimeter and hand held Global Positioning System (GPS).
The Department has another two stand-alone Computer (PC) along with one A-4 size Laser Printer, two A-4 size Scanner and one Dot Matrix Printer procured from the UGC Grant under the equipment Head.
