For B.Sc. (Major) course in Geology, admission is given purely on the basis of merit. The qualifying examination is Higher Secondary (Science) or equivalent (10 + 2 standard). For ranking an applicant in order of merit, the criterion is the ‘Credit Point’. Credit point is calculated as total marks in Higher Secondary or equivalent examination + percentage of marks in Geology (for the applicant passing H.S. with Geology & Chemistry) or aggregate percentage of marks in Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (for the applicant passing H.S. with Chemistry but without Geology). Along with Geology as the Major subject, a student must choose either (Physics, Chemistry) or (Chemistry, Mathematics) or (Physics, Mathematics) as Subsidiary (General) subjects. There is a provision for reservation of seat for students belonging to SC, ST(P), ST(H), OBC, MOBC and physically handicapped categories as per State Government rules. A few seats may also be allotted to students having outstanding performance in the field of sports, culture and NCC. The total intake capacity of the Department is 30 (inclusive of all sorts of reservation).
